Black and white scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory by Michael Cohen. Great composition by Cohen with the shape of the mammoth ivory resembling the top of a mountain. The endangered castle is under attack by a fearsome dragon, while in the foreground an attractive woman glances over her shoulder. Is she the dragon’s master or the castle’s hope of salvation? Impressive detail from the intricate woman’s jewelry to the pattern in the castle’s walls. Great piece at a very reasonable price.
Color scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory by Michael Cohen. An enchanting elf picks daisies scattered among a field of magical mushrooms. Judging from the look on her face, she seems to have something in mind. Cohen has taken his work in a new direction as all artists do from time to time and the results are quite pleasing. A first rate Fredericks stand of ebony with inlays of mammoth and abalone adds to the piece.
Black and white scrimshaw on pre-ban African ivory by Michael Cohen. Charming piece depicts an impish fairy perched atop a rock outcrop surrounded by strange looking mushrooms. Nice detail with the wings and wrapped leggings.
Notice:
This scrimshaw is done on pre-ban African ivory. Since the passage of the CITIES Treaty in 1973, there has been no African ivory brought into the U.S. However, ivory that was in the U.S. prior to 1973 can be legally sold and shipped within the U.S. However, new legislation taking effect in 2016 restricts pre-ban African Ivory from being shipped interstate. It can only legally be shipped intrastate, (within the state). All of our pre-ban ivory is located with our associate in the state of Florida. It can be purchased directly from our website and shipped only to an address within the state of Florida. If one has a relative, trusted friend or business associate within the state of Florida, we can ship to that specified address in order to comply with the new Federal legislation. The scrimshaw can then be forwarded it to you and everyone complies with the law. Any questions email or call us.
Color scrimshaw on ancient mammoth tusk ivory by Michael Cohen. This charming fairy is taking a break from here routine to come to rest on a nicely shaped rock. Nice details here with her jewelry, arm bands and necklace. Love the Spock like ears as well.
Black and white scrimshaw by Michael Cohen on pre-ban African ivory tip. Great looking young lady dressed in lingerie. As usual, this talented scrimshander has done another outstanding job. We don’t get many of these smaller tips, but whenever we do, the nudes seem to fit. The ivory itself is 3 1/2″ high, mounted on a well made stand of cocobolo wood. Great price for such fine work.

Nice detail by the artist from the flowers in her hair, to the jewelry on her arms, neck and wrists. Handsome ebony stand by Fredericks completes the picture.
