“Ship Mary South Seas July 1840” sepia toned scrimshaw done on large sperm whale’s tooth by talented unknown scrimshander. This impressive piece is done in the style of antique scrimshaw. However, it is not antique. The work is too fine and may have been created to pass as antique which is why it has no signature. Excellent addition to any scrimshaw collection at a very reasonable price. From the collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us. Not sure where he picked it up.
