Sea Turtle and Tuna

“Sea Turtle and Tuna” black and white scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory bark by Ray Peter. Huge sea turtle cruises over coral, oblivious to the small school of tuna in the distance. Peters’ stipple work and shading on this one is simply outstanding. Just creating all of the individual dark patterns on the flippers takes forever. This is done on a very thick piece of bark with perfect shading. Lots to recommend this one.
