“Disappearing Whale Fluke” black and white scrimshaw on ancient walrus tooth ivory artifact. This whale is a long gone guy, or gal. Great work by Peters on this artifact. The tooth was part of a bola, consisting of 3 to 6 walrus teeth strung together to make a bola, used to snare shore birds. Quite rare to see the original hole intact.
