Antique Scrimshaw Woman with Paper

“Antique Scrimshaw Woman with Paper” from the collection of one of our clients who is no longer with us. Dress appears to be of the 1850s era. Excellent patina on the tooth. Woman appears to be holding a paper in her left hand. Garland surrounding the woman typical of work from this era as well. A wooden peg has been inserted into the base of the tooth, secured by small metal pegs on either side. Excellent condition of this tooth, no age checks. The collector made the handsome stand. Quite heavy (456 grams!).
